Packaged Water Chiller Repair – Packaging Facility in Gloucestershire
Overview
Chiller Service UK was contacted by a packaging facility in Gloucestershire after their Thermocold SEA MEX 150 packaged water chiller began operating incorrectly and repeatedly tripping.
Process cooling is essential in packaging operations, and any issue affecting the chiller can quickly disrupt production. The client required a rapid response to diagnose the fault and restore reliable cooling.
Our engineer, Ian Hill, attended the site within 24 hours of receiving the call-out to investigate the issue.
The Problem
The site reported that the packaged water chiller was tripping due to low-pressure alarms and was unable to maintain stable operation.
This issue was affecting the reliability of the cooling system supporting the production process and required urgent investigation to prevent disruption to operations.
Investigation
Upon arrival, our engineer Ian Hill carried out a full diagnostic inspection of the chiller system.
The investigation included:
Inspection of the electrical control panel
Verification of system sensors and instrumentation
Checking system operating pressures
Inspection of the electronic expansion valve control system
The fault was traced to a faulty pressure transducer, which was affecting the operation of the electronic expansion valve and causing the chiller to trip on low pressure.
Work Carried Out
Fortunately, our engineer carries commonly required spare parts for Thermocold SEA MEX 150 chillers, allowing the repair to be completed during the same visit.
The following work was carried out on site:
Identification of the faulty pressure transducer
Removal and replacement of the defective component
Restart and recommissioning of the chiller
Operational testing to confirm correct performance
The Result
As the required spare part was already available in the service vehicle, the repair was completed quickly.
The chiller was fully operational within two hours of our engineer arriving on site, restoring reliable cooling to the packaging facility and allowing normal production to continue.
Chiller Service UK provides rapid-response breakdown support, servicing, and repairs for industrial and process chillers across the UK.
Our engineers carry commonly required spare parts for many packaged chiller systems, helping to reduce downtime and enabling repairs to be completed during the first visit wherever possible.
